Lobster Fra Diavolo

I only have this dish once a year and that’s on Christmas Eve. It’s been a tradition in my family for a long time and theres always discussion of it being too hot or not (from the red pepper since diavolo means devil. Don’t hesitate to simmer the lobsters in the sauce for a long time to add flavor and tenderize the meat. We serve this on top of angel hair pasta and pass the lobster around in a bowl. Your hands are going to get dirty with this dish!!


Ingredients (For 3 Lobsters)

  • 1 Cups Chopped Parsley
  • ½ Cup Chopped Basil
  • 1 Lemon Juiced
  • 1 TBS Tabasco
  • 1 TBS Hot Pepper Flakes
  • 2 Cups Red Wine
  • 4 Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 TBS Garlic Powder
  • 2 TBS Butter
  • 1 TSP Paprika
  • 1 Can Kitchen Ready Pastene  Tomatoes
  • Salt/Pepper to taste



  1. Split Lobster down middle and clean
  2. Heat Saute pan with olive oil and 3 TBS butter
  3. Add half the garlic, parsley, basil, lemon juice, tobacco, hot pepper paprika garlic powder and salt/pepper to taste
  4. Add 2 cups red wine and cook for 5 minutes until alcohol is burned off
  5. Add 3 lobster meat side down
  6. Add parsley and basil, garlic and cover and cook for 10 minutes until red
  7. Open cover, and add 1 can of tomato and 1 cup red wine half can of cold water stir and cover
  8. Simmer for 25 minutes and serve

The picture above is about 12 lobsters for our Christmas Eve dinner. You can break the tail off, or serve whole with pasta.
